We can imagine you are currently diving into the whirlwind of wedding planning! One thing we always advise is crafting a wedding day timeline that keeps you both relaxed and photo-ready. Your special day should be about love and celebration after all, not stress and clock-watching!
Every wedding is unique, but there are common threads that weave through most celebrations. We’re talking about preparations, the ceremony, and of course, the party – the reception! We’re sure you’re probably already familiar with the elements of a wedding day. Laying these out makes planning your day much more manageable.
This is where your special day begins! Whether it’s getting your hair done or sharing a toast with your bridesmaids or groomsmen, all these moments are really precious! We love capturing these authentic, behind-the-scenes shots. We would always advise to you to allocate enough time here, particularly for bridal prep so you’re not rushing around and getting all hot and bothered!
Your wedding ceremony is kind of like the heart of your day. A sweet spot for the length is usually around 30 minutes – not too short, not too long. This normally gives us enough time after for those must-have family and couple shots, without your guests waiting too long or becoming ‘hangry!’
Now for the couples portraits! This is where we get those dreamy, romantic shots of just the two of you together. We recommend setting aside at least 30 minutes (this could even be split into 3x 10 minute intervals if necessary). This gives you enough time to get a variety of shots, but isn’t so long that you’ll miss your own cocktail hour!
Receptions are where all the fun happens! From your grand entrance right through to the cake cutting and first dance, we’ll plan to capture it all!
This is one of the most important things to keep in mind when planning out your wedding day timeline; always add some buffer time. Whether it’s traffic or a small makeup fix, it’s completely normal to expect some little delays on the day. However, with some extra time in your schedule, you won’t have to worry about any of it eating into your photo time (or party time!)
Never hesitate to have a chat with us about your timeline! We’d love to help and offer any advice or insights on the best lighting for your photos and how to arrange your day for the smoothest experience.
Although planning is crucial, it’s still important to be somewhat flexible. From our experience, some of the best moments often happen unplanned! So, if things do shift a little on your day or don’t unfold exactly as you planned then the best thing to do is to just roll with it. Your wedding is a celebration, not a military operation!
So there you have it – just a quick and simple guide to creating a wedding day timeline that’s relaxed and ensures you’re photo-ready at every moment. Remember, it’s all about enjoying your day! And if you need a little help or are looking for someone to capture your day with all its love, laughter and tears then don’t hesitate to reach out or head over to our blog for more useful tips. Happy planning!
