The Kings Head, a traditional village pub seated in the rural Northamptonshire village of Wadenhoe was the perfect spot for Emily and David’s fun filled wedding on July 23rd.
We begun the day by heading over to meet Emily and the bridal party for bridal prep images. The Bride and bridesmaids were pampered with hair and makeup at the The Talbot Hotel in Oundle, Peterborough. The Talbot Hotel is a beautifully rustic, grade I listed, Elizabethan building. It dates back to the early 1600s and is a prime spot in the heart of the market town for both visitors and locals.
The bridesmaids were all dressed in blue with white gypsophila flowers decorating their buns. One particular detail which we absolutely adored was Emily’s choice of footwear. Instead of opting for the classic, glitzy stilettos, Emily chose to wear white barefoot sandals with pearl detailing which attached around her ankles and connected over the toe.
After bridal prep, Emily was then greeted by her friends from the cycling club. They then transported her in a decorated rickshaw from the hotel to Wadenhoe Church situated on the top of a hill just a 2 minute walk from The Kings Head.
After the church ceremony, we photographed Emily and David as they exchanged hugs with their guests and later captured some confetti action shots. We then spent 10 minutes capturing some portraits of the newly-wedded couple outside the church.
Once the guests had made their way down to The Kings Head, the reception took place in the outside grounds of the pub beside the river Nene.
The vibe was one that epitomised a warm, relaxed and carefree summer afternoon, much alike to enjoying a garden party with close friends and relatives; enjoying cocktails, delicious food and great conversation.
After an hour or so we gathered family for a few group photos which also included a surprise action shot of the groom being shoulder pressed into the air which is certainly something you don’t see at every wedding!
With Emily and David both being playful and sporty individuals, it was great to see how they incorporated all the things they enjoy doing together which reflect there personalities on their wedding. These included activities such as cycling and swimming. A little while after the guests had eaten, many joined the bride and groom for a swim in the river with Emily rocking a Wonder Woman swimsuit!
This wasn’t the only adventurous aspect of the day as the bride and groom had their guests join them in a tug of war competition. This made for some awesome photographs and was a wonderful way to get the guests laughing and having a great time!
Once we had finished enjoying some freshly made pizza, we ventured out towards the hills by the church once more. As the sun had begun to fade, we spent 15 minutes photographing some romantic shots while we walked and chatted about their day.
After heading back, the cake cutting commenced. Again, this wasn’t your classic, three tier sponge wedding cake but instead a stacked cheese cake! By cheese cake we really do mean actual cheese! Emily had told us she wasn’t the biggest fan of cake so a more savoury cake was a wonderful alternative. The cheese cake was tastefully decorated with flowers, fruit and crackers and an adorable pig and otter cake topper.
As always, it was a real pleasure to document their wedding and be a part of their special day.
